After a great engagement session a few years ago, we came back to their favorite spot to toast to their anniversary in the early morning.
I love this little guy. We bring bubbles and he’s more interested in the bubble machine than the bubbles. In talking with mom ahead of time, she wanted us to just focus on her son, that all the photos are really about the child, and he was great. Liam just did his thing and interacted with me the few times I needed him to, but really I just wanted to see what he saw! You forget as an adult what it’s like sometimes to be so curious about everything, and it was a nice reminder to us as we watched him just take it all in. Mom just stayed very close by to make sure everything was safe, but otherwise, it was such a cool photojournalistic-style shoot to be on.
Usually it’s just a newborn stage that parents really want photos to be only the kids, but I say it’s ok to do it for other stages too, especially when they’re so curious about things. I do stress though that you do get family portraits at some point, if not during this one session, then another.
